Dear Serge: Thanks again for the wonderful apartment you provided for my 7 year old son and I during our extraordinary 3 weeks in Kiev. I've traveled all my life, all over Western Europe many times, to Africa, India, the middle east, Asia, central and south America, and your city of Kiev is the most wonderful city I've ever been to. It has all the beauty of Paris, but it also has the vibrancy of New York.
From the apartment you provided we could walk just about everywhere we wanted to go. The apartment was just a few short blocks from Krishytic Street, the "5th Avenue" of Kiev, and then just another few blocks to Revolution Square, and the adjoining music center, which my son and I attended, and saw a wonderful play. We were just one block from your beautiful opera house, where my son, Skyler, enjoyed his first experience with opera, Aida, his eyes wide open at the beauty of the theater as much as with the spectacle of the opera. We visited your amazing 11th century church, also walking distance from the apartment, and the artists' district down the narrow street adjoining it, where we bought 5 paintings for our home. Just a couple of blocks from our apartment was your wonderful natural history museum, where my son and I spent most of one day of our vacation, exploring its extensive collections. And one block from the apartment was a park where I took my son to play in the snow with the Ukrainian children, the absence of a common language posing no problem for my son or the other children. Across the street from our apartment was "our regular bar." It is wonderful to have a "regular bar," where one can go and feel "at home," among friends, and the folks at "De Ja Vous" always made us welcome, giving my son the nickname "Mr. Milkshake." The apartment was also just one block from.
The apartment itself was just as it was depicted in your Internet advertising materials. I've never lived in such luxury, with the apartment's high ceilings, beautiful windows looking down upon the street. My son and I played games on the floor of the huge living room and sometimes, upstairs, in the loft. The kitchen had everything that we have at home, refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, and a kitchen table in addition to the dining table at one end of the living room. But I think my son enjoyed most your Jacuzzi, which was good for me, because I didn't have to hassle him to take a bath, rather he would beg me each night to turn it on for him. We also felt very safe and secure in the apartment and in the neighborhood. The apartment building had a code lock at the street door, and then a dead bolt at the apartment entrance. But I also felt it was very safe in the neighborhood too, indeed wherever we went in Kiev, both for myself and my son. I want to say that you were wonderfully gracious in meeting us at the airport and bringing us to the apartment, and then, taking us to the airport at the conclusion of our wonderful vacation. And you were always immediately responsive to our every request for assistance during our stay in Kiev, always providing a maid whenever we felt we needed the apartment cleaned, and available to answer our questions, from how the television worked to how to obtain medical assistance when my old shoulder injury flared up.
I look forward to returning to Kiev in the future, because I've developed a real fondness for the city, and the fine, cultured, and hospitable people of the Ukraine. And when I return, you may be sure that I will call and ask you to arrange for my accommodations. I truly appreciate everything that you did to make our stay in Kiev a wonderful experience, both for myself and my son.
Very truly yours,
